The state of Tamil Nadu in India has an electorate of more than 46 million people
The complete list of Governors of Tamil Nadu consists of the heads of state in the history of the state of Tamil Nadu in India since the independence in 1947. The Governor is a nominal head and representative of the President of India and is appointed by the President for a term of five years. Surjit Singh Barnala is the current governor of Tamil Nadu. His official residence is the Raj Bhavan. The area under the present-day state of Tamil Nadu has been part of different territorial configurations under Madras Presidency and Madras State in its history.
